SUMMER CLEANING

Tips for Cleaning Your Grill

It’s that time of year again to pull out the grill and fire it up! We all love when family and friends get together for some fun backyard barbecues. After the party is over and it’s time to clean up the mess, the grill needs a little TLC. Try out this recipe to make your grill shiny and clean for the next friends and family get together. Use sea salt and fresh lemon to break up the grease that builds up on your grates.

Add the salt directly onto the fresh lemon and rub the grate, wait about 5-10 minutes before cleaning. Scrub clean with a grate brush and wipe with a warm wet cloth. Lightly coat the grates with a spray cooking oil or vegetable oil and wipe off with a paper towel. This will reduce stuck on food the next time you cook out. Your grate will look good as new!

Cleaning the Patio Furniture

  • 1 Tbsp. borax
  • 1 tsp. nontoxic liquid dish soap
  • 2-5  drops lemon essential oils

Directions:

Add ingredients to a spray bottle, spray directly on the cushions, chairs, and table. Let sit for about 20 minutes. Heavily soiled areas may require additional soaking and more scrubbing. Rinse with a garden hose, wipe clean with a microfiber cloth or towel.

Cleaning the Deck

Keeping your deck cleaned about once a year can be a challenge. It can build up mold, green moss, dirt & grime. This recipe will help loosen all that grime and the essential oils will help fight the mold. (Clove, cinnamon, peppermint and rosemary essential oils are a great blend for fighting mold).

Note: Always wear latex gloves when handling these oils as they can cause irritation to the skin.

  • 1 part vinegar
  • 8 parts warm water
  • ¼ cup Hydrogen Peroxide
  • 10-15 drops Essential Oils

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients together in a gallon bucket. Pour ingredients over the entire area of the deck. Let sit for about 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to loosen dirt & grime. Take a scrub brush to tackle those hard to clean areas. Then power wash deck until wood looks new. Don’t power wash to close to the flooring or it will cause shavings (splinters) into the wood. This can be a challenging job but the end results will leave your deck looking brand new! Make up this solution as you need it, no storage necessary.
