RECIPE FOR LEMON LIME LAUNDRY POWDER
Store-bought laundry detergent can be very expensive to purchase. To save yourself hundreds of dollars each year, you can make your own for a fraction of the cost. You can double your recipe for more frequent users.
- 1 – 55 oz. box of washing soda
- 1 – 76 oz. box of borax
- 2-3 cups baking soda
- 3 bars of fels-naptha bar soap (you can find this at your local discount stores in the laundry soap aisle)
- 30-40 drops of doterra essential oils
- 20 drops lemon essential oil
- 20 drops lime essential oil
- (This is 100% pure therapeutic grade oil, you will get 250 drops from a 15 ml bottle. This will make 6-8 batches of laundry powder.
Directions:
Grate the 3 bars of soap (you can use a cheese grater) in a medium-size bowl and set aside (this will look like shredded cheese so keep away from children). Add the 1 box of borax, 1 box of washing soda and 2-3 cups of baking soda in a large storage container. Gradually add all the grated soap to the powder mixture into the storage container and stir with a spoon or mix it up with your hands. Add the 30-40 drops of lavender essential oils and mix into the powder mixture. Gradually add about one cup at a time into a blender and grind until it forms into a thin powder. Now you have homemade laundry powder that is safe for your skin and toxic-free!
Store the laundry powder in a large airtight container.
I use this recipe and it works great and saves me tons of money and will last me several months! Use 1 tablespoon per load or 2 tablespoons for heavily soiled laundry.
I love this! Soo much better then the store bought laundry soap filled with dangerous chemicals.
Greetings from Michigan!
